Can you remove coffee, wine and other stains from a sofa?

Everyday stains from coffee, wine, tea, grease or food can often be lightened significantly or removed altogether. A complete result cannot be guaranteed: it depends on the material, its colour fastness, the age of the stain and any earlier cleaning attempts. We assess the result honestly only once the fabric is completely dry.

Do you clean leather sofas as well?

Yes. Leather sofas are cleaned with a gentler method designed for leather, different from fabric extraction, because leather must not be soaked. We clean upholstered furniture only, so sofas and armchairs; we do not clean car seats or car interiors.

How often should a sofa be professionally cleaned?

With normal use once or twice a year is often enough. In a household with children or pets more frequent cleaning can make sense, depending on how heavily the sofa is used and how much hair and staining it collects.

How do I prepare a sofa for cleaning?

The sofa needs no special preparation, the cleaning itself is our job. It helps if you remove cushions, blankets and small objects beforehand and give it a quick vacuum to take off loose dirt and hair. Show us any heavy or older stains in advance, ideally by photo on WhatsApp, so we can choose the right treatment. Please make sure we can reach electricity and water; no furniture needs to be moved out of the flat.

Can you deal with vomit, urine and a lingering smell?

Yes. Once we have seen a photo and assessed the material we can propose a suitable treatment and extraction cleaning. The odour and the visibility of the stain can often be removed or reduced, but a complete result cannot be promised for every material and every depth of soaking. Ordinary extraction cleaning is not verified disinfection and does not guarantee that bacteria or viruses are destroyed.

Sofa cleaning is deep cleaning of the upholstery by hot water extraction, which releases and then extracts dirt, grease, dust and part of the trapped allergens out of the fabric. We clean your sofa, couch or corner suite at your address, with the price confirmed in advance, and you use it again once it is completely dry.

How sofa cleaning works

We start by assessing the type of fabric and how dirty it is, and pre-treat the individual stains. Then we deep clean the upholstery: we apply a cleaning solution and a powerful machine immediately extracts it back out together with the dirt.

Sofas, mattresses and thicker upholstery dry within 24 hours after cleaning. Thanks to the extraction method the sofa is never left soaked, because the machine draws most of the moisture back out while we work. Cleaning a sofa itself takes 60 to 120 minutes, depending on its size, how broken up it is, the material and how dirty it is. We work in your home, with no furniture moving.

Couches, corner sofas and full suites

A couch and a sofa are the same thing to us: we deep clean both by the same extraction method, whatever you call the piece. We clean two- and three-seaters, corner suites, full sofa sets, sofa beds and the settee in the living room.

With a sofa bed we can also clean the surface underneath the fold-out mattress, where dust and crumbs collect most. With a corner sofa the price is set by length and material rather than by the number of seats.

Couch cleaning happens in your flat. We do not move or transport furniture anywhere; we only need access to electricity and water and room to move around the piece.

Fabric and leather sofas

Fabric sofas and couches are cleaned by classic hot water extraction. Leather sofas are cleaned by a gentler method designed for leather, so that they are neither soaked nor damaged.

If you do not know the material, or it is suede or a similarly delicate fabric, send us a photo. We choose both the method and the price from what we can see; where the fabric is unknown we quote it as a fabric sofa.

We work exclusively on upholstered furniture, meaning sofas, couches and armchairs. We do not clean car seats or car interiors.

What we can help with

We recommend having a sofa cleaned at least once a year, ideally together with carpets and mattresses in a single visit. For heavier soiling such as pet urine, faeces or children's accidents involving yoghurt or chocolate, get in touch as soon as possible after it happens. Fresh soiling is still mostly in the top layer, so the chance of removing both the stain and the odour is considerably higher than with dried, deeply soaked dirt.

The detergent we use on upholstery

We clean sofas with Kärcher CarpetPro RM 760 Classic from the Kärcher CarpetPro range. The manufacturer describes it as an effective deep cleaner for extraction cleaning of textile floor coverings and upholstery, which releases heavy oils, grease and mineral dirt, is gentle on materials, contains no bleaching agents and improves the hygiene of the cleaned area. Its pH value is 8 in the concentrate.

We dilute and apply the concentrate ourselves, test the material in a less visible spot first, never soak the textile, rinse the area with clean water and extract the solution together with the dirt. The manufacturer does not claim removal of dust mites, allergens, bacteria or viruses, nor disinfection, so neither do we; extraction cleaning helps draw out dirt, dust and part of the trapped allergens.

The price of sofa and couch cleaning

The minimum call-out price is €40. It applies to every visit, even if we are only cleaning a single armchair.

Cleaning a fabric sofa starts from €15 per seat, a leather sofa from €20 per seat, a sofa bed from €35 per item and a corner sofa from €60 per item depending on length and material. A three-seater therefore works out from roughly €45, and a five-seater from roughly €75.

We give you a fixed price once you send a photo of the sofa on WhatsApp, and that price holds with no surprises on the day.
